A journey together of learning, happiness and success.

At Rawdon Littlemoor Primary School we journey together; preparing our children to be successful in all aspects of their lives and to continue that success through into secondary school and beyond, by instilling in them a love of learning.

We believe passionately in enabling our children to develop lifelong learning skills including curiosity, the ability to problem solve and an understanding of the rewards of perseverance and hard work. We support our children to develop effective social skills, and emotional understanding and resilience. Also, we give them opportunities to take responsibility, develop leadership, work collaboratively, compete, take the initiative, express opinions and listen to others.

Our carefully planned thematic approach to learning  embeds literacy, art, design technology, history and geography in our topics. This gives children a real context and purpose for their learning and allows them to make links throughout all curriculum areas.

Visits, visitors and experiences are carefully planned to inspire, excite and engage children in their learning.  Homework projects, which develop through school, engage children and home in children’s learning and support children in becoming self-directed, articulate learners.

British Values and Prevent objectives are woven into our topics, discrete PSHCE teaching and assembly themes. Investors in pupils practice gives our children a voice and participation in whole school decision making, as well as greater responsibility for their own learning and behaviour.

Theme days through the year broaden children’s knowledge and understanding of the world and Interhouse competitions each half term give children the experience of challenging themselves individually and collaboratively through competing, winning and losing.

We are committed to providing children with the skills they need to be happy, healthy, confident, independent young people who have the desire to make a positive contribution to society.
