Ducklings & Goslings

Welcome to Foundation. We have two reception classes - Ducklings and Goslings. The teacher of the Duckling Class is Miss Macey. The Gosling Class teacher is Miss Dempster. Other adults within our Foundation team are Mrs Cooke, Mrs Nutton, Miss Barker, Mrs Dal Molin, Mrs Brown and Miss Liddemore. Please speak to any member of our team if you have any questions or concerns. We feel very lucky to be part of your child's first school year, enabling them to begin their learning journey and settle into school life.

We have an amazing indoor room with lots of provision areas that are enhanced with each theme we deliver. Our outdoor area is an exciting learning environment. We use this area daily to engage in a range of learning opportunities, whatever the weather!

We follow the children’s interests, but popular themes are ‘All About Me’, 'Toys', ‘Superheroes and People Who Help Us’, ‘Animals’ and ‘Growing Plants.’ We also enjoy learning and experiencing the different seasons and celebrations through the year, such as Diwali, Chinese New Year, Christmas and Easter.

Both classes currently have their PE day on a Wednesday. Please can your child come in on a Wednesday wearing their PE kit.

Happy Easter Everyone!

We've made it to the end of term - well done everyone. We have all worked super hard this term and have all tried our best. We have loved out underground topic and especially learning about the Great fire of London.

Kingfisher made me proud today at cross country where we all ran with all our might. I can confirm it was rather tough!

Happy Easter Kestrels!

Thank you for a lovely last week of term. We have worked our socks off this week, trying to get all of our Watery Worlds pieces finished and our Geography topic folders compiled, not to mention lots of measuring in maths and writing our recount in English. You all deserve a restful break now!

Then there was the excitement of the Easter bunny yesterday, followed by the Interhouse Crosscountry today. I was really proud of all of you: some of us were nervous, some of us confident and some determined just to improve on last year's position. You were all so supportive of one another, and proud of each other -it was wonderful to see. Well done Team Kestrel!

See you all after the holidays when we have our Groovy Greek topic to get our teeth into - it's going to be a good one!

Peacocks have had a very busy four days. We started with a wonderful class assembly where everyone did themselves proud with their reading, joke telling, acting, writing, singing, skipping, art work and recorder playing.

On Tuesday, Year three enjoyed their visit to church for the Easter story and really made me proud with their fantastic listening skills. We enjoyed finding out a little about the Mayans and writing a setting description for the chocolate Tree story myth about the god Kukulkhan.

Today has been fun for everyone (even if we didn't all think cross country would be fun). Everyone did their very best and ran with all their might. Well done to all the winners and well done to everyone else for giving their best. You were fantastic!

When we come back, we will learn a little more about the Mayans before moving on to our new topic, Victorian Rawdon'.

In this new topic, we will be making some CAMS toys so please could you start collecting shoe boxes. Each child will a shoe box each for their design. Sorry I can only put one photo on here! I can put some more on the website later.
