Welcome to Foundation. We have two reception classes - Ducklings and Goslings. The teacher of the Duckling Class is Miss Macey. The Gosling Class teacher is Miss Dempster. Other adults within our Foundation team are Mrs Cooke, Mrs Nutton, Miss Barker, Mrs Dal Molin, Mrs Brown and Miss Liddemore. Please speak to any member of our team if you have any questions or concerns. We feel very lucky to be part of your child's first school year, enabling them to begin their learning journey and settle into school life.
We have an amazing indoor room with lots of provision areas that are enhanced with each theme we deliver. Our outdoor area is an exciting learning environment. We use this area daily to engage in a range of learning opportunities, whatever the weather!
We follow the children’s interests, but popular themes are ‘All About Me’, 'Toys', ‘Superheroes and People Who Help Us’, ‘Animals’ and ‘Growing Plants.’ We also enjoy learning and experiencing the different seasons and celebrations through the year, such as Diwali, Chinese New Year, Christmas and Easter.
Both classes currently have their PE day on a Wednesday. Please can your child come in on a Wednesday wearing their PE kit.
Please see our weekly newsletters for further information and important dates.
Just a reminder that we are heading to the Sikh Gurdwara tomorrow. Children need to arrive at school at the normal time, in uniform. Please bring a hat or headscarf to wear on the visit, along with a packed lunch to have when we get back to school around 1pm.
Tomorrow, Thursday 22nd February 2024, we are going to take pat in our rugby tournament.
You child needs to come to school in their PE kit, bring a water bottle and a packed lunch. We will be eating our packed lunch when we arrive back in school in the classroom.
As the weather has not been the best today, and rain tomorrow as well, can you please bring with you a spare change of clothes (can be normal school uniform or a pair of joggers) along with spare socks and shoes/trainers.
Peacocks have had a very busy week with our animal visitor (please check out the class page on our website for photos) and much more. The attached picture show a drama snap shot of some of the children getting into character to portray the children in the ill fated plane in our current book 'The explorer'. We are building up to writing a diary entry from one of the characters.
Well done to those children who earned a golden ticket fort heir spelling this week!
As it is half term holidays, there is no maths or spelling homework but the children all have a project to be working on, based on Brazil or the rainforest. They have three weeks from now to get it done. I also still need the children to read every day (or as much as possible) and practise their times tables to ensure they keep their skills fresh.
Have a fab half term!
Love Miss Kemp
