Safeguarding
Rawdon Littlemoor is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff, governors and volunteers to share this commitment. We recognise that safeguarding encompasses the duties of child protection and promoting the rights and welfare of children. It is everyone’s responsibility to safeguard children and adults in school and provide a safe environment in which children can learn. We have a dedicated safeguarding team and a number of policies and procedures in place that contribute to our safeguarding commitment, including our safeguarding and child protection policy.
Occasionally we will share information with other agencies if we have a concern about your child’s safety. We would usually tell you about this beforehand to explain the reasons why. Equally other agencies may share information with us if they have a concern about a child’s safety at home.
Safer recruitment
Rawdon Littlemoor follows safer recruitment policy and guidelines, in line with Department for Education guidance ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’. This is to ensure all recruitment for employees, volunteers and placements, is both safe and fair. Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people is an integral factor in recruitment and selection and is an essential first step in safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and creating safe environments for children and young people.
Prevent duty
Our safeguarding responsibilities include protecting children from radicalisation and extremism. This is known as the Prevent duty. More information is available here.
Online safety
We take online safety very seriously in school and use the SMART rules to ensure all our children stay safe online. Children learn about keeping safe online and how to protect themselves through the curriculum in ICT and PSHE. We also invite visitors into school to keep staff and pupil’s knowledge up-to-date. It is important that parents are well-informed and know what children are accessing online at home, especially if they have their own phones, tablets or computers.
